If you liked Obama’s latest stand on privacy and immunity of government from lawsuits, you’re going to love his takedown of Habeas Corpus.

It is time to confront Obama  about his DOJ stand numbing down Habeas and human rights.

This could have come straight from the pens of torture lawyers John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington, Alberto Gonzales, William Haynes and Douglas Feith.
These lawyers, as you know, are currently being prosecuted by Spain for crimes against humanity in the World Court.

We went into Iraq and Afganistan purportedly to install democracy in those countries and millions were killed and refugeed in that effort, our own people and theirs.

What does it say about our form of democracy when we limit our beliefs in basic human rights to the confines of our own borders?

I didn’t like Obama’s stand on telecom immunity and I like his disregard for Habeas Corpus even less for at least two reasons:

It is a complete reversal from his statements on the campaign trail, and before.
Eliminating the protection of Habeas weakens human rights and strengthens tyrants.

It is a continuation of Bush/Cheney fascism.
